It is more worth your money if you do a lot of moving around to just buy the full copy so that your allowed to reactivate it several times. I think it’s 10 or 30 times, not positive.

Our company has purchased the product key card licenses for Office Home and Business since they come at a substantial cost savings over the CD version. I need to set up a bunch of new computers so I want to create an image to cut the deployment time. I obtained the Office I would like to include Office in my image. Ideally, I would install Office on the machine I would capture the image from but leave it un-activated.

Then, as I deployed each image I could activate them with different product key cards. The problem is that the installer requires the key before the installation even starts, so I don’t know how to get an un-activated Office installed on the machine that will be imaged.

Is there a way I can install Office Home and Business first and then activate it later with a product key card? Download and install the trial version of office then image the PC. When you have an image on a new machine open office and it will ask you whether you want to use the trial version or buy a version. Click on buy and version and it will allow you to enter your product key. I deploy images using wds and this works for us. Job done. Merryworks is an IT service provider.

I think that is how the come for me on boxes I order with Office. Unconfigured Trial version that you can put the serial number from the card on when you first start it up and then you configure.

I believe if you don’t put it in, it continues as a trial. Update: at the suggestion of darrend and Merryworks, I tried obtaining an Office Home and Business trial key, and used it to install Office on my image template machine.

This allowed me to get Office into the image along with all of its Windows updates. I then deployed the image to a new computer, and when I opened Office I was given the option to enter a purchased key. Thanks so much guys!
